Snow levels will be high, anywhere from 7,500 feet to possibly over 9,000 feet at times "therefore significant snowfall will likely be regulated to only the highest elevations of the Sierra," according to the weather service. The heavy rain will cause rises to streams and rivers but flooding isn't expected.
Strong winds are anticipated in western Nevada Thursday night through Friday followed by heavy rain on Sunday.

The first of the systems should arrive Wednesday, with snow expected between 6,200 and 6,700 feet. The more significant set of storms are shaping up for Thursday night and will be spread throughout the weekend bringing a prolonged period of heavy precipitation to the Sierra and northeast California and periodically spreading to areas of western Nevada.
