Carson City sheriff's investigators make multiple robbery, kidnapping arrests

Carson City Sheriff’s Office detectives and the Special Enforcement Team have arrested several people related to an ongoing investigation that involved alleged kidnapping and robbery.

Patrol deputies responded to a report of a battery with a deadly weapon call on Sunday, Nov. 25 at around 2:00 a.m. near the water tower area of Goni Road, said CCSO Capt. Brian Humphrey.

Deputies took a report on the incident and detectives continued the investigation. The investigation revealed the victim of the battery was also a victim of a robbery. Detectives identified Michael Segna and Mauricio Gomez as the suspects.

FBI Northern Nevada Safe Street Task Force along with Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team located Michael Segna on Tuesday, Nov. 27 near the water tower located in Voltaire Canyon of Carson City. He was arrested on a warrant related to the battery with a deadly weapon incident and a Douglas County warrant.

Further investigation by detectives revealed the female with Segna during the arrest was being held against her will and had been battered, said Humphrey.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office executed two search warrants during the investigation. On Nov. 28 at around 8 p.m. the first search warrant was conducted in the 1800 block of East William Street at a tattoo business. Mauricio Gomez was found at that location along with the owner of the tattoo business, Christopher Powell, said Humphrey.

Powell was arrested after the search of the business was completed.

The second search warrant was in the 600 block of Hot Springs Road on Thursday, Nov. 29. Richard Rios was arrested at the location.

Segna, 21, of Carson City was arrested for kidnapping, domestic battery, robbery, battery with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Gomez, 26, was arrested for robbery, battery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance.

Powell, 37, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of a gun by prohibited person, harboring and aiding a fugitive and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Rios, 32, was arrested for possession a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The investigation is active and still on going with additional arrests expected.
