South Lake Tahoe man jailed for alleged food tampering now faces new charges

Harry Dally, the man accused of putting a bleach-like substance on food at two locations in South Lake Tahoe, is now facing additional charges of assaulting a custodial officer with a deadly weapon.

On December 4, 2016, Dally allegedly created a makeshift edged weapon while in the El Dorado County Jail and attacked a correctional officer. The officer did not sustain any injuries according to El Dorado County Sheriff's Sgt. Tasha Thompson.

Dally, 43, was arrested on November 22 after several food tampering incidents at Raley's and Baja Fresh. One 12-year-old boy was hospitalized, a San Diego visitor sought medical help when she returned home, and a third victim recovered at home after having the salsa at Baja Fresh. There were four known incidents of food tampering at the Hot Wok inside the Stateline Raley's but no illnesses have been reported as a result from those crimes. The bleach-like substance put on the food has been set to the FBI labs in St. Louis.

The additional weapon and assault charge adds another $50,000 in bail to the previous $320,000 set for Dally. $310,000 of that is for 'willful poisoning of food' and the $10,000 stems for parole violation. Dally was previously charged with a DUI.

Dally is due to be in court on January 9, 2017.
