Barton Health recognized for excellence in surgical quality

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Barton Health has been designated a Surgical Quality Partner by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). This distinction acknowledges Barton’s dedication to surgical quality and commitment to maintaining the highest standards in surgical care.

“We are humbled and honored to receive this recognition for top-quality surgical practices,” said Dr. Kim Evans, General Surgeon and Trauma Program Director at Barton Health. “At Barton, our paramount focus is achieving successful outcomes for our patients. The surgical team remains highly vigilant in ensuring the utmost quality in every operation we perform."

Surgical Quality Partner designation is only available to hospitals that are currently verified/accredited by the ACS. Barton Health was qualified by its Level III Trauma accreditation from the ACS. To earn Level III Trauma designation, Barton Health participates in a triennial review of its trauma center’s resources and performance.

As a Level III Trauma Center, Barton’s highly-trained surgeons and emergency physicians are experienced in treating a wide variety of traumatic injuries. With this designation, Barton has expanded blood bank capabilities, expedited patient evaluation and triage, priority access to diagnostic technology, and an increased care team aptitude and preparation for traumatic injuries. Skilled clinical teams of the Trauma team are available around the clock to provide rapid, lifesaving-care to patients.

“We understand that patients don’t always have a choice leading up to emergency surgery. This distinction is proof of Barton’s surgical quality, providing evidence-based metrics to help you know you are in the right hands,” said Dr. David Young, Chief Medical Officer at Barton Health. “Dr. Evans’ success in leading the trauma department for over a decade has been vital to earning our distinction as an ACS Surgical Quality Partner, and this is such a wonderful compliment to the diligence and commitment of our entire surgical team.”
