Tahoe Talks: Addressing Prosperity for Tahoe's Residents

Event Date:
December 16, 2015 - 12:00pm

What does a Prosperous Tahoe look like? What does prosperity mean? How can we measure it? The Tahoe Prosperity Center (TPC) mission is uniting Tahoe's communities to strengthen regional prosperity. How do our governments, businesses and communities fit into that goal? What can we do to ensure Tahoe's residents are prosperous?

The next session of Tahoe Talks on Wednesday, December 16 will be an interactive discussion on the results of the Measuring for Prosperity report and the Tahoe Prosperity Center's Workforce project. The discussion will touch on how the cost of housing versus incomes are not in alignment. It will address how increases in retail sales and transient occupancy taxes (TOT) affects Lake Tahoe's economy and quality of life. And how events, arts, culture, and recreation fit into the bigger picture. Finally, we want to hear from you about what the Lake Tahoe community can do to address challenges in housing, employment, and other areas that relate to prosperity.

Join the group as speakers Heidi Hill Drum, Executive Director, Tahoe Prosperity Center, Jesse Walker, New Economics & Advisory and"B" Gorman, President and CEO, Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce lead the discussion.

The free event will be held in the Aspen Room at Lake Tahoe Community College from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The college is located at One College Drive in South Lake Tahoe and the Aspen Room is located near the school's library.

Tahoe Talks Brown Bag Lunch Series is hosted by the Tahoe Metropolitan Planning Organization (TMPO) and its partners for learning and sharing ideas that strengthen our Tahoe communities. Topics will focus on transportation, environmental, and economic ideas that are pertinent to issues we face today at Lake Tahoe.

The next Tahoe Talk will be on Wednesday, January 20th on "How-to-City: From Idea to Reality, Making A Community Project Happen."
