Lucky Beaver's annual Toy and Food Drive off to good start, but more help needed

The Lucky Beaver Bar & Burger's annual Toy and Food Drive has once again demonstrated the spirit of giving by raising money and gathering toys for local charities including Christmas Cheer and Phoenix Food Pantry. This big undertaking underscores the community's commitment to supporting those in need during the holiday season.

The initiative that is spearheaded by Lucky Beaver co-owner Mike Leeper began as a response to a critical shortage of toys and food in the area. Leeper, along with his dedicated staff, initially purchased toys to contribute and have since expanded their efforts to include the Heavenly Village Turkey Drive.

In 2022, organizers saw an overwhelming response from the public, patrons, and Lucky Beaver players, making the Lucky Beaver Toy Drive a resounding success.

"Our goal at Lucky Beaver Bar & Burger is to create lifelong customers," expressed Leeper. "We're profoundly grateful to our loyal customers, both locals and visitors, for their enthusiastic participation in our charity initiatives. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and extend our heartfelt thanks for your support."

Pat Farrah, co-owner of the Lucky Beaver Bar & Burger, shared, "The level of commitment and generosity shown by our community and customers is unparalleled. Their unwavering support not only bolsters our business but also significantly contributes to the welfare of our wider community. We are deeply grateful for their ongoing involvement and assistance. It's this spirit of collaboration and kindness that truly sets our patrons and community members apart as exceptional."

The Phoenix Food Pantry has reported an unprecedented need this holiday season, with demand surging again 30% higher than the peak seen during the COVID pandemic. This increase is primarily attributed to inflation and rising heating and gas prices. South Lake Tahoe City Council member and Phoenix Food Pantry associate Tamara Wallace stated, "The need is critical - we're struggling to meet the demands of families in need. Local businesses like Lucky Beaver Bar & Burger are vital to our community, and we deeply appreciate their support."

Donations for the Lucky Beaver Toy and Food Drive are still being accepted at the Stateline location through December 23. The community is encouraged to contribute unwrapped toys and checks made out to either Christmas Cheer or Phoenix Food Pantry. Your generosity will bring joy and relief to many this holiday season.

The Lucky Beaver at Stateline is located at 31 US50. They also have a Reno location that is supporting that community. That address is 3655 S. Virginia.
