Snowglobe reconfiguration to close Al Tahoe Blvd and Bijou Park

12.20.17 update: When closures are in place, Al Tahoe Boulevard will be closed from Johnson Blvd to Pioneer Village to lessen impact on residents.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CALIF. - The 7th annual SnowGlobe Music Festival returns to South Lake Tahoe December 29-31, but those attending and nearby residents need to know of changes to the layout, resulting in some road closures.

Al Tahoe Boulevard will be closed to ensure the safety of community members and festival attendees. It will close to through traffic one hour before the festival start time and one hour after the festival end time so there will no longer be cars allowed into the area to drop off attendees.

Al Tahoe will be closed on the following dates and times:

· Friday, December 29, 2017 - 1:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. (SnowGlobe 2:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.)

· Saturday, December 30, 2017 - 1:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. (SnowGlobe 2:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.)

· Sunday, December 31, 2017 - 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. (SnowGlobe 2:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.)

The headquarters for the festival have moved from the gym at Lake Tahoe Community College to across the street at Bijou Community Park, which will be closed from December 27-January 3.

The City of South Lake Tahoe has set up a hotline number to record community questions and/or concerns. This is not for event or ticketing information. Community members may leave a message for City staff regarding noise, traffic, parking etc. City staff checks the number each day and relay community concerns to event producers. To leave a message please call (530) 542-6001.

Concert, City officials and sound experts have worked together on sound mitigation, controls on decibel levels to keep noise from bothering neighborhoods near the event, but still allowing concert goers a great experience. Noise levels are affected by snow on the ground and even though the decibel limits are the same each year, snow can absorb sound so it travels further when there is no snow.
