National Winter Trails Day at Van Sickle State Park

As part of National Winter Trails Day, the Tahoe Rim Trail Association will host free guided hikes on Jan. 12, 2013 from 10am to 2pm through the newly opened Van Sickle State Park behind Harrah’s Casino at Stateline South Shore Lake Tahoe.

There will also be outdoor gear demonstrations, raffle prizes, and a Warming Party at Explore Tahoe after the hikes.

This South Lake Tahoe event is a family-friendly introduction to snowshoeing and to winter opportunities on the Tahoe Rim Trail. Participants will have to bring their own shoes, snacks, water and warm clothing.

Maybe an impromptu Pray for Snow party will take place at some point! And, watch for cyclists who also share this trail.

National Winter Trails Day includes the following:
It’s FREE for the whole family. Guided Hikes, Gear Demos, Drawings for prizes (If you register online, your name goes into the drawing), Winter survival & safety activities, Winter ecology & Interpretive hikes with local outdoor educators, A warming party at Explore Tahoe with yummy food.
