A Christmas Wish

Christmas is the season for joy.
Christmas is the season for giving.
Christmas is the season for spending time with friends and family, far and near.

Christmas is the season for kindness.
Christmas is the season to celebrate by giving the light of love to those who need it most.
Christmas is the season to share treasured stories, legends, and songs.

While I love the season, why couldn't we have a little bit of Christmas all year long?

Remember the kindness our community felt for others after returning home from evacuations caused by the Caldor Fire? Strangers gathered on street corners to welcome back, and send off, fire crews protecting South Lake Tahoe and Meyers. Cheers and nightly celebrations replaced social media bickering and complaining.

People found ways to show kindness to neighbors and strangers alike.

During the pandemic many locals found how easy it was to pay it forward, buying giftcards from businesses impacted by closures and giving them to others. What a way to say 'I care'!

Who could forget the drive-by celebrations, also during the pandemic. Children couldn't have birthday parties with their friends, so lines of cars drove by their home to spread cheer. The smiles these celebrations brought to all involved were endless.

These examples are like bits of Christmas during unexpected times, wouldn't it be cool to experience this again (but without a fire or a pandemic, of course)?
