Toyota Tacomas are almost an institution, perhaps the best-selling mid-size pickup ever. In 2017 Tacoma sales were about 200,000 and owned over 50 percent of the market and for 2018 total Tacoma sales are 20 percent higher, looking at a 250,000 in sales for 2018 and still holding over a 50 percent market share. A 38-year-old man from Sacramento, California is in Renown Medical Center this afternoon after suffering major injuries after going off US50 east of Slippery Ford Road near Twin Bridges at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018.

The unidentified man was driving his vehicle on eastbound US50, east of Slippery Ford Road at an unsafe speed according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Due to his high rate of speed speed in the curvy section of the road he could not maintain his position within the traffic lane and lost control.

The Douglas County Search and Rescue (DCSAR) is looking for physically fit and energetic individuals to participate in its fall academy and join it’s highly qualified team. DCSAR is comprised of approximately 50 trained volunteer members within the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and responds to emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Friends, family and over 50 Search and Rescue volunteers from five counties are searching for 46-year-old Edward Cavanaugh who was last seen on July 17.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office says the Bay Area man was last seen in the Rock Creek area where he was riding his blue Yamaha YZ 250. Cavanaugh parted ways with another rider he had been riding with and said he was going to utilize the trail system to return to a residence he owns in the area. This trail system is in the Georgetown Divide area between the towns of Mosquito and Garden Valley.

Today Kristen Spees announced the details of her congressional campaign’s Off-Road Ride Across Nevada.

Spees' ride is entirely off-road to promote public access to BLM land. The ride starting September 5th will navigate across Northern Nevada beginning in Dayton, to Sand Mountain, Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park and up to Austin, Nevada. Riders on Off-Highway Vehicles are expected to cover more than 350 miles over 3 days to promote public access to BLM land throughout Nevada.

To promote access and raise awareness on this issue Kristen stated:

A management plan that will guide management of National Forest System lands in the Lake Tahoe Basin over the next 15 years has been worked on over the last decade. The creation of the plan took the concerns and values of many different groups and citizens as to how Forest Service lands in the basin should be managed.
