You won't believe the mayhem- and the fun- when the Herdmans collide with the Christmas story head on! A cast of over 20 local kids ages 7 to 13 help bring the show to life.

Santa Claus comes to visit as local school choirs and other musical groups perform both days.

Raffle tickets for raffle packages of items donated by the vendors will be available as well as hot mulled wine, hot cider, water, sodas and cookies will be available for purchase.

Wa She Shu It’ Deh Native American Arts Festival, Tallac Historic Site. Saturday and Sunday, July 27 and 28. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The festival features native arts and crafts, food vendors, basket-making, raffles, Native American dance and drum performances.

The Washoe will re-unite at the Tallac Historic Site in South Lake Tahoe to honor their culture and heritage during their annual Wa She Shu It’ Deh Native American Arts Festival. Sponsored by the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California, the festival will take place at the Valhalla Grand Hall and Lawn and is free to attend.

U.S. Forest Service: Be mindful of safety, environment and fire when at Lake Tahoe for the July 4 holiday

Headed to Lake Tahoe for the Independence Day holiday? The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit asks residents and visitors to help protect public safety and the environment, and keep wildfire prevention in mind while celebrating.

Possession of fireworks of any kind, including sparklers, is illegal in the Lake Tahoe Basin and campfires are not permitted on National Forest beaches or in the general forest. For those planning to barbecue on the beach, the Forest Service requires the use of portable gas stoves.

South Lake Tahoe Police Canine Association hosts 5th annual K9 Trials

The South Lake Tahoe Police Canine Association will host the 5th annual K9 Trials on Sept. 21-22 in South Lake Tahoe. It is anticipated that 50 K9 teams from police departments throughout California and Nevada will compete in the competition. The narcotics trials will be held on Friday, September 21 at the Royal Valhalla Motor lodge at 2pm. The patrol dog competition will be held at the Babe Ruth Little League Field on Saturday, September 22 beginning at 8am. Proposal would bring new road, parking spaces to Lake Tahoe Tallac Historic Site

A new road and an intersection reconfiguration, more parking spaces and BMP water improvements are among some of the changes being proposed by the U.S. Forest Service at the Tallac Historic Site near South Lake Tahoe. Public comments are being taken until Oct. 1 for the proposed changes, which could get off the ground next year.

The Wa She Shu It’ Deh Native American Arts Festival at the Valhalla Grand Lawn July 28-29 features traditional American Indian dancers and drum performers, basket weaving displays, art, and great food. Residents and visitors are urged to help protect public safety and the environment during the Fourth of July holiday by keeping wildfire prevention in mind.
The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management unit reminds folks that having fireworks of any kind — and sparklers are considered fireworks — is illegal in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Campfires are not permitted on Forest Service beaches or in the general forest. For Wednesday, July 4, 2012, only, personal barbecues are allowed at Nevada, Pope and Baldwin beaches but are not permitted on any other Forest Service beaches or in the general forest.
