Love being on the Lake? Enjoy having fun participating in a variety of activities? Like giving back to the community? South Lake Tahoe Yacht Club (SLTYC) offers the opportunity to share these interests with others. On Sunday, June 11 from noon to 3:00 p.m., the SLTYC is holding its annual membership crive at their Clubhouse and they are inviting potential members as their luncheon guest. Meet active members and learn more about our club...boat ownership is not a requirement to join either.
El Dorado Beach boat ramp at Lakeview Commons open

The City of South Lake Tahoe has opened their boat ramp for the season.
2012 was the last year the El Dorado Beach boat ramp was open due to the following years of less than stellar winters and the ensuing drought.
The cost is $17.00 - Day Use Launch, $40.00 - Commercial Day Use Launch and $138.00 - Annual Pass. There are staff members assigned to the launch to collect fees. The ramp is open 8:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m. daily with the last launch at 4:30 p.m.
Tahoe summer camps offered in robotics, backpacking, art and more

Tahoe Summer Camps is offering a wide variety of unique adventures for youth. Their out-of-the-box camps are all based at the north end of Lake Tahoe and reach the adventurous, artistic and maker-spirit of children. Some camps are all day long while others are overnight adventures around the lake.
Tahoe Summer Camps is proud to offer wide a range of camps to satisfy any child’s adventurous spirit. Broken down into art camps, high-tech camps, wilderness camps and lacrosse camps, below are just a few of the options available to children:
National Trails Day celebrated with festival at Spooner Lake

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. – Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park and the Tahoe Rim Trail Association are co-hosting a celebration of trails on National Trail Day. The event will include: educational booths, talks relating to the outdoors, free gear demos, workshops, raffles and pictures with the TRTA mascot, McLeod the Marmot.
Sample backpacker’s cuisine, participate in stove demos, pack shakedowns and water sugar pine seedlings. Test your rock shaping skills, fix a flat tire, read a map and more.
TAMBA kicks off the cycling season with party

Celebrate the upcoming mountain bike season in Lake Tahoe at the TAMBA (Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association) Spring Party this Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Heavenly Mountain Resort California Base Lodge starting at 6:00 p.m.
All ages are invited to this free, family-friendly event that will include the showing of an UnREAL bike film, raffles, pasta dinner and information about all their 2017 projects. A membership drive is also being held and those interested can sign up at the event.
New zip line to go through treetops in South Lake Tahoe this summer

The Silver Rush, a new 4,159-foot long zip line opening this summer at Heavenly's Epic Discovery, will take users from tree-to-tree at speeds up to 40 miles per hour. Overlooking the Carson Valley, Silver Rush is comprised of five segmented zip lines; the final of which flies guests over the waters of East Peak Lake.
Once the ride is completed, guests enjoy a scenic ATV ride back to the top of the Gondola. It is a three-hour long experience.

Sierra House Elementary raising funds for Charlie Cart Project

From the day they set foot in the kindergarten classroom, students at Sierra House Elementary school learn about soil, seeds, planting and growing food, and now parents at the school are raising money to take lessons for all K-5 students to the next level.

The Run -This is a guided, slow moving 4-wheel drive trip through the Deer Valley trail area, with BBQ and raffle afterwards. Limited to properly equipped vehicles.

Tahoe Fund and USFS launch project to control trashed sleds in Lake Tahoe

What has become an out-of-control, unsightly and all too common practice at Lake Tahoe snow play areas now has a champion to control abandoned sleds.
Tahoe Fund Executive Director Amy Berry brought several organizations together to discuss potential solutions to resolve this issue. It had been on their radar for some time, but with the rapid growth of discarded sleds covering the landscape, Berry and the Tahoe Care Team of the agency knew something had to be done immediately.

We’ll learn to see more when we’re out in the Tahoe wilderness, how to identify what we encounter, and practice drawing and writing about all of it! Some materials will be provided but bring a notebook and pen if you have them! Make sure to dress for the weather—we’ll be going out exploring! Free and open to all children over 10 years of age.

2nd annual Dual on Dynamite fundraiser for Sierra-at-Tahoe Avalanche Dogs

Kenny Curtzwiler, the Lake Tahoe SkiBum, has organized the 2nd annual Dual on Dynamite bump race to be held at Sierra-at-Tahoe on Sunday, April 2 as a fundraiser for the resort's avalanche dogs.
This event will also be the used as the inaugural "Remember Zach 'Zach-Mac' McAllister" event.
A South Lake Tahoe native, McAllister died unexpectedly in November, 2016 at the age of 26. The 2008 South Tahoe High graduate was a firefighter-paramedic at Northstar Fire Department for four years and a ski patroller at Sierra-at-Tahoe for eight years.

April 7, 2017 (All day) Are you interested in boating on Lake Tahoe? Would you like to meet other people who enjoy sailing? If so, you're invited to Windjammers Yacht Club Annual Chowder Feed and Membership Drive.
This fun filled event will be held Friday, April 7, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. The dinner meeting features Dr. Ross Groelz's Famous Oyster Stew and Clam Chowder, salad, bread and dessert all for $15. A cash bar with beer and wine will be available.

Snow makes a return to Lake Tahoe Tuesday; Chance of rain all weekend

Hope you got out to enjoy the last full day of sunshine Friday as over a week's worth of storms enters the Lake Tahoe Basin starting Saturday.
The weekend will have unsettled weather as a system headed to California is starting to split, with heavier rain to the north and south, and a chance of rain for South Lake Tahoe. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Lake Wind Advisory for Lake Tahoe, which is in effect from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Winds: Southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 35 mph. Wave Heights: 1 to 3 feet, highest from midlake to northeast shores.
