National Trails Day celebrated with festival at Spooner Lake

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. – Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park and the Tahoe Rim Trail Association are co-hosting a celebration of trails on National Trail Day. The event will include: educational booths, talks relating to the outdoors, free gear demos, workshops, raffles and pictures with the TRTA mascot, McLeod the Marmot.

Sample backpacker’s cuisine, participate in stove demos, pack shakedowns and water sugar pine seedlings. Test your rock shaping skills, fix a flat tire, read a map and more.

As part of the celebration, a Park Ranger will be leading a 2-mile guided hike around Spooner Lake. Bring water and wear sturdy boots. Visit www.tahoerimtrail.org for more information about the festival.

WHEN: Saturday, June 3, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WHERE: Spooner Lake State Park is located .25 miles north of Highway 50 on State Route 28 in Glenbrook, NV.
