Tahoe Paradise replaces MS Dixie II for time being

Lake Tahoe Cruises announced that their boat "Tahoe Paradise" will be operating the company's sightseeing and dinner cruises instead of the M.S. Dixie II starting January 21.

The Tahoe Paradise will operate out of the Ski Run Marina.

Lake Tahoe Cruises' other boat, the Tahoe Queen, has been out of operation since an incident at the end of their New Year's Eve cruise caused the boat to stop. Initial reports from the Coast Guard said the boat ran aground on sand due to low water levels. As of last week, no evidence had been found to suggest it had, according to Coast Guard officials. However, investigators did find a hydraulic sprocket in need of repairs, and a working sprocket is required for the boat to operate on Lake Tahoe. The no-sail order was subsequently imposed.

Since that time the M.S. Dixie II has been covering their lake cruises but that will end on January 20 and the Tahoe Paradise will take over those duties.

"Tahoe Paradise will run in lieu of the Queen until further notice," group sales coordinator Jennifer Lazon said in an email to South Tahoe Now. It will be the only operation vessel the company will have on the lake for the time being.
