Meyers vehicle break-ins: Lock your car doors to keep both bears and criminals away

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Several thefts from vehicles in the North Upper Truckee Road area of the South Shore have reported items stolen from their unlocked cars in recent days.

On the evening of January 20, a homeowner reported seeing three suspicious people on her surveillance camera attempting to open her vehicle door. Deputies from the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) responded and found two vehicles that appeared to have been rummaged through. These two vehicles had items taken from them with no signs of forced entry.

The suspects seen on video appeared to be two adult men and one adult female.

On January 21, EDSO responded to another call in the same area to a report of money taken from their unlocked vehicle.

This is an active investigation and has been assigned to EDSO detectives.

Just as with bear break-ins, these thefts are the crime of opportunity, one that exists only when an unlocked vehicle giving them the opportunity.

If anyone sees anything suspicious it is always a good call, if you see something, say something.
