New master plan being created for Tahoe Paradise Park

Event Date:
February 4, 2016 - 6:00pm

As the Tahoe Paradise Park Improvement District celebrates their 50th anniversary, the district's board of directors, along with community volunteers, determined that it is time to create a master plan for the park which is located in the town of Meyers.

The draft master plan will be the subject of a community meeting on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at the California Conservation Corps meeting room from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

There are seven goals in the plan, with a list of associated objectives that the directors hope will bring increased activity at the park which is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to sunset.

1. Increase community involvement, activities, and programs
2. Conserve, protect, and enhance the park’s natural and human-made features
3. Enhance park maintenance and appearance
4. Enhance park governance and management
5. Enhance financial accountability and transparency
6. Increase revenue
7. Establish a project development and implementation plan

The public park covers 56.5 acres along the Upper Truckee River. Inside the park is Lake Baron, a shallow, nine-acre lake which allows a spot for fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking and swimming. Also inside the park are tennis courts, a playground, picnic grounds and a special event/wedding area.

Copies of the draft plan are available on the park's website and there will be copies available at the meeting.

The CCC building is located at 1949 Apache Avenue in Meyers.
