Lake Valley Fire maintenance shop earns honor

The Lake Valley Fire Protection District (LVFPD) has received the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Blue Seal of Excellence Certification. This makes their maintenance shop one of only two facilities in the Tahoe Basin to receive this distinguished honor. ASE promotes excellence in automotive repair in every part of the automotive service industry.

To become eligible for the Blue Seal of Excellence, a maintenance shop must have certified technicians in every area of service offered. The program recognizes the competency and credibility of the fleet technicians, and honors the hard work technicians put into making sure that firefighters, police officers, and public works employees are better able to serve their communities by keeping their vehicles on the road every day.

Lake Valley Fire’s Fleet Maintenance Division, run by Fleet Manager/Fire Mechanic Andrew Sessions, is currently professionally certified in 21 of the ASE areas of automotive service. These areas range from automotive and light truck, to heavy truck and equipment repair, to fire apparatus and emergency vehicles, just to name a few.

"Providing the highest level of service to our community is our most important mission,” said Sessions. “To accomplish that, we need to keep our equipment in the best possible operating condition. Anything less than 100% is not enough”.

Sessions, who joined the LVFPD family in July of 2015 from Roseville, CA, has brought with him a host of skills and is a highly decorated mechanic holding a California State Fire Marshal’s Level III Master Fire Mechanic Certification. He has been working as a mechanic for over 15 years and has spent the last ten years specializing in fire apparatus.

"We are extremely proud of Andrew Sessions and the work he does for District and our constituents," said Chief Harris. "His professionalism and dedication to duty are admirable. We are fortunate to have him as part of our team, and thank him for helping us achieve the ASE Blue Seal of Excellence."
