South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce announces name change

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - With more than one Chamber of Commerce serving the South Shore there is often confusion about their names and functions.

In 2005 the Tahoe Douglas Chamber and South Lake Tahoe Chamber merged into the Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce (LTSSCC) for the whole community, both sides of the state line. A group of California side businesses then formed the South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce.

Since then, LTSSCC has simplified their name and are now known as the Tahoe Chamber. The South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce is now also re-branding to stand out from other chambers around the lake and have renamed their group the California Tahoe Chamber of Commerce.

To kick things off they are holding a Re-Branding Party on March 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Fremont Mall at the corner of Lake Tahoe Blvd. and Fremont Ave.

Freshies Restaurant of South Lake Tahoe will be catering the event. There will be a silent auction and raffle with proceeds to benefit Bread & Broth, Tahoe Animal Coalition, and the Tahoe Homeless Coalition.

In addition to the name change they also plan to offer more services to its members which will include the following:

- Educational workshops for businesses
- A new and improved interactive Website
- New advertising opportunities
- New networking mixers and events
- Events that will spotlight businesses

"And best of all, a huge change in our operations," said Amanda Adams, the group's president of an announcement coming in the near future.
