David Jack to receive Champion's Plaza recognition in South Lake Tahoe ceremony

Event Date:
April 7, 2022 - 2:30pm

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The community is invited to Champions Plaza on Thursday, April 7 at 2:30 p.m. for the induction ceremony of wrestler David Jack.

Jack was a finalist in the Olympic Wrestling Trials, a South Tahoe High athlete who was the CIF high school silver medalist, and three-time AAU-All American.

Champions Plaza is located at Lakeview Commons on Lake Tahoe Blvd./Lakeview Aven.

On the heels of the 2014 Winter Olympics, in which several South Lake Tahoe athletes earned Olympic medals, the idea of creating a Champions Plaza was born. To honor and recognize these athletes, City Council approved the construction and design of a Champions Plaza with an 11’ bronze "Spirit of Competition" sculpture that represents male and female athletes reaching for a ring. The sculpture was created by artist Gareth Curtiss and it was unveiled in the Plaza in 2018.

The first round of athletes recognized through the installation of a personalized brick on the plaza floor include:

Jamie Anderson
Maddie Bowman
Travis Cabral
Elena Hight
Jonna Mendes
Shaun Palmer
Glen Plake
Travis Ramos
Kyle Smaine
Hannah Teter
Juan Torres

David Jack will be added to this group, memorialized with a special brick.
