Full agenda for South Lake Tahoe City Council

Tuesday, April 17 will be the next South Lake Tahoe City Council meeting, starting at 9:00 a.m. in the council chambers at the airport.

A cannabis ordinance will once again be discussed during the meeting. Micro-businesses, on-site consumption, permit costs, taxes, and number of licensees will be a few of the points they will discuss as an ordinance is developed.

The Council will also be voting on steps to replace the City Attorney and City Manager.

Three people have written letters to the council, offering their services as interim City Manager after SLT Fire Chief Jeff Meston submitted a 30-day notice for relinquishing his temporary city manager duties. The council can hire a search firm for both this job, and the city attorney position.

After Tom Watson left his city attorney post last year, Nira Doherty moved up from her deputy city attorney position and took Watson's job, at least on am interim basis. She informed council that she would like to leave the position by summer. She also works for the law firm Burke, Williams & Sorensen, and when she is unable to work for the City, another attorney on staff has done the job. The firm will cover the City's legal needs for no more than $33,000 a month unless a new city attorney is hired. This agenda item is 2:00 p.m. time certain.

Also on the agenda is a presentation by the 100 percent Renewable Committee on the one year anniversary of the City's pledge to use clean and renewable electricity by the year 2032.

The quarterly update on the newest Vacation Home Rental (VHR) ordinance will be made by SLT Police Chief Brian Uhler with facts on activity from December 22, 2017 to March 31, 2018.

CivicSpark, a program the City could participate in that would enable AmeriCorps Fellows to help in many different ways at a cost of $25,000.year. If approved, this would be a co-position shared by the Sierra Nevada Alliance.
