Letter: Republican Women host Todd White, chair of the El Dorado County Republican Central Committee

The Republican Women of California - South Lake Tahoe guest speaker series continued in April with a talk by Todd White, long-time Chair of the El Dorado County Republican Central Committee and long-time resident of El Dorado County.

Mr. White noted there are 58 counties in California, and each county has a Central Committee whose responsibility is to educate the public on good governance principles, important issues, and introduce Republican candidates for office to our members, and help elect them.

Todd discussed some of the issues affecting South Lake Tahoe that are of concern (a $6,000 Vacancy Tax initiative, a possible $23/hour minimum wage mandate and its impact on employment and the economy, business closures, and Vacation Home Rentals). Those who are concerned with the city council raising the minimum wage in the city limits of South Lake Tahoe without knowing its impact on employment and businesses should voice their concerns at the April 23 council meeting.

Further discussions included the importance of elections, election integrity, and critical issues that face the State and our Nation (i.e. dragging our nation into a possible war, huge state budget deficits that could mean tax increases, creating a safe border secure from illegal drugs, child trafficking, persons on the terrorist watch list).

The Republican Women of California - South Lake Tahoe (RWC-SLT) meets most months on the second Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, please email us at: sltrepublicanwomenofca@gmail.com
