NDOT: SR28 striping rescheduled; Lane shift at bottom of Spooner

Drivers heading off the hill and going into Carson City via U.S. 50 need to be aware of lane shifts on the highway near South Carson Street. The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) will be reducing traffic down to one lane in each direction, and shifting it slightly to the south, starting the evening of Tuesday, April 25 and into early May.

This move is part of the reconstruction of the future Carson City Freeway intersection in preparation for the $42 million Carson City Freeway Phase 2B-3 project to pave and open the last approximately four miles of the freeway between Fairview Drive and the Spooner/U.S. 50 junction in south Carson City.

Thus far, approximately one million cubic yards of earth have been moved and more than 82,000 tons of asphalt paving placed for the future freeway. The project is expected to complete, opening the final segment of freeway to traffic, in late summer 2017.

In other NDOT news, due to weather and wet/snowy mountain roads, NDOT's project to re-stripe State Route 28 will not take place this week as originally scheduled. Instead, the road re-striping has been rescheduled to take place May 1 through May 4, weather dependent.
