Countdown to Amgen: Parking and driving impacts

Some roadways in South Lake Tahoe will have restricted parking from Thursday, May 7 at 5 p.m. through Sunday, May 10 in order to accommodate the women cyclists racing in Amgen Tour of California events being held locally.

Street parking is not allowed during these time periods in the following areas with-in the city limits:

· Pioneer Trail from the Intersection of Hwy 50 in the Stateline area to the City Limits by Black Bart Avenue

· Keller Road from Pioneer Trail to Saddle Road
· Tamarack Ave from Pioneer Trail to Blackwood Ave
· Blackwood Ave from Tamarack to Spruce Ave
· Spruce Ave from Blackwood to Glenwood Way
· Glenwood Way from Spruce Ave to Pioneer Trail
· Al Tahoe Blvd from Pioneer Trail to Hwy 50
· Montreal Ave from Heavenly Village Way to Chonokis Ave
· Chonokis Ave from Montreal Ave to Rocky Point Road
· Rocky Point Road from Chonokis Ave to Pine Hill Road
· Ski Run Blvd from Pioneer Trail to Saddle Road
· Saddle Road from Ski Run Blvd to Keller Road.

Residents will still have access to their homes, just no parking on the street. There will also be rolling closures of roads in South Lake Tahoe as the cyclists race through the community.

On Friday, the women start at Heavenly Mountain Resort at 11 a.m. and all riders should be through Camp Richardson by 11:26 a.m. They are racing around the lake and should hit Spooner Summit between 1:29 p.m. and 1:58 p.m. The racers will then pass through Stateline between 1:59 p.m. and 2:35 p.m., heading behind MontBleu and up Rocky Point. The race should end on Friday back at Heavenly by 2:42 p.m. If traveling near Incline Village, please note that Hwy 28 will be closed to all traffic between Spooner Summit and Lakeshore Blvd from approximately 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Immediately after the women leave Heavenly, the Honor Ride Lake Tahoe will be held. Veterans and community members will race the same route as the women do on Saturday, from Heavenly Mountain Resort to Meyers and back.

On Saturday, racers depart Heavenly Mountain Resort at 10:30 a.m., then head through the Spruce Ave/Blackwood Rd area between 10:34 a.m. and 10:35 a.m. They'll then ride to Glenwood, up to Pioneer Trail and through the stop light at Black Bart Avenue between 10:40 a.m. and 10:42 a.m. The race route then goes down Pioneer Trail to Highway 50 and over to South Upper Truckee. The women will be through to Hwy 89 and Portal Dr between 11:02 a.m. and 11:08 a.m. They head up Apache, down Mandan and back to Heavenly via Pioneer Trail. They then complete the circuit one more time, ending at Heavenly Mountain Resort between 12:33 p.m. and 12:38 p.m.
