“The Ghost of Mark Twain" to entertain in South Lake Tahoe

The renown Mark Twain impressionist McAvoy Layne will treat South Lake Tahoe audiences with the "Tahoe Tales" of the legendary writer and humorist during a performance on Saturday, May 23.

The veteran of more than 4,000 performances around the world over the past three decades as the legendary writer and humorist, McAvoy Layne has been preeminent in preserving the wit and wisdom of “The Wild Humorist of the Pacific Slope,” Mark Twain.

The one-night only performance will be presented at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the trouble starting at 7 p.m. Seating for this exclusive presentation is limited to 50 with tickets at $20. Call (530) 543-2113 or visit: www.tahoeresorthotel.com.

Internationally known as “The Ghost of Mark Twain,” Layne will bring Twain’s local area lore, half-truths and embellishments to light in the finest manner.

A world traveler, Twain’s appreciation for Tahoe began in 1861, when he made his first visit. The poetic description he wrote in “Roughing It” still waxes eloquent, “As it lay there with the shadows of the mountains brilliantly photographed upon its still surface I thought it must surely be the fairest picture the whole earth affords.”

Layne is the ghost of Samuel Clemens in A&E’s biography of Mark Twain, and in the Discovery Channel’s Cronkite Award winning documentary, “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.” He is a winner of the Nevada award for excellence in school and library service, and author of a soon to be published memoir, “Becoming Mark Twain.”

“If Lake Tahoe does not cure for whatever ails you, I will bury you at my own expense,” says Layne in spot-on Mark Twain style.
