Open Houses and hearings set for Lake Tahoe agency's Regional Plan Update

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency has scheduled a series of open houses and public hearings to give the public an opportunity to provide input on the draft Regional Plan Update and Regional Transportation Plan, as well as the environmental documents that were released at last month’s Governing Board meetings.

“How do we restore Lake Tahoe and create more walkable, bikeable communities?” asked Joanne Marchetta, TRPA’s Executive Director. “Answering this question is a key focus of the Regional Plan Update and Regional Transportation Plan. We are currently in the comment period for the environmental impact statements and we hope you will let your voices be heard,” she said.

Priorities for the Regional Plan Update are:

Accelerating water quality restoration and other ecological benefits by supporting environmental redevelopment opportunities and Environmental Improvement Program (EIP) investments.
Transitioning to more permitting by local governments to create one-stop-shop for homeowner improvements in order to return TRPA to the more regional role that the Compact originally intended.
Creating walkable communities and increasing alternative transportation options.

The open house and hearing dates are:
May 21, 2012 – 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Open House on the Regional Transportation Plan and Regional Plan, The Chateau, 955 Fairway Boulevard, Incline Village, NV.
