South Tahoe Middle School honors retirees with firemen led Flash Mob

Retiring South Tahoe Middle School Principal thought it was an assembly to honor the school's staff who are retiring. Words were said and plaques were given at the Wednesday morning ceremony. Then, the fire alarm sounded and hundreds of students and staff moved out onto the soccer field.

The fire alarm was planned, and what greeted Delacour and the other retirees was a flash mob dance performed by the students and members of the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department. The kids had been rehearsing the dance in their P.E. classes, but didn't know they were going to be using their new dance moves on the soccer field. Math teacher Kellee Koeppen's husband Karl happens to be a SLT fireman and helped them learn the dance.

Delacour, who has worked for LTUSD for 32 years, is being joined in retirement by Counselor Joann Hernandez (15 years), teachers Carol Murdock (36 years), Louise Ann Simon (27 years), Pam Taylor (30 years), and custodian Michael Kezer (3.5 years). Also honored during the ceremony was strings teacher Candace Robinson (17 years).
