Voice your opinion on city matters with new South Lake Tahoe e-comment

The City of South Lake Tahoe wants to hear opinions and concerns from the public on city matters. In order to hear from the people who cannot make City Council meetings they have created "eComment."

This new way to collect comments on agenda items was unveiled this weekend and is now in place, just in time for the June 2nd council meeting.

eComment provides an easy way to give input in the democratic process and makes participation in public meetings convenient. eComment is a web-based form that’s tightly integrated with the City’s published agenda. Residents can review agenda item details, indicate their position on an item and provide feedback.

“This expands the City’s efforts to encourage community engagement and public involvement in local government, initiatives, ideas and decisions,” said City Manager Nancy Kerry.

All comments will be downloaded into a report and given to the City Council members prior to each meeting so they'll know the views of their constituents.

“It is important that your voice be heard in the democratic process. We understand that not everyone can make it to City Council meetings. The public eComment online feature is an excellent means by way of computer, smartphone or tablet for members of our community to actively participate and get involved in the making of important City government decisions,” said City Clerk Susan Alessi.

To utilize eComment, log onto the City of South Lake Tahoe website prior to a meeting, and click on “Agendas and Minutes” on the homepage. This will take you to a place to submit opinions on legislation that is up for debate. To submit your comment, simply click the eComment link next to an upcoming meeting’s agenda.

The eComment feature is available now for the June 2, 2015 City Council meeting.
