Local couple win 2016 Sierra Vision Award for their Tahoe Mountain Lab

The Sierra Business Council announced the winners for their annual Sierra Vision Awards, and a South Lake Tahoe business and its owners were on the list.

They give out the awards to recognize and honor leadership in restoring and invigorating our local economies, communities, and environment.

David and Jamie Orr of Tahoe Mountain Lab were recognized for establishing a "robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in South Lake Tahoe by attracting top-notch talent, creating economic opportunities for local youth, and acting as both a business incubator and community hub."

"Co-founders Jamie and David Orr are credited with instilling a positive feedback loop in Tahoe Mountain Lab, helping businesses establish themselves and then providing the tools for those same entrepreneurs to in turn attract and retain new talent," said the council in their press release. "By acting as leaders in community-based innovation, Tahoe Mountain Lab is putting South Lake Tahoe on the entrepreneurial map."

Also on the list are:

Loren Clark - Lifetime Achievement Award Winner
Loren is being recognized for his commitment to the triple bottom line, the understanding that our economy, our environment, and our communities work best when working together. Loren was critical in implementing the Placer Legacy program that protected thousands of acres in Placer County. Additionally, Loren laid the ground work for the Placer Conservation Plan, which aims to promote economic development in the region while protecting nearly 50,000 acres of critical habitat. Finally, his skill set in landscape photography cannot be ignored, Loren has captured incredible images of the Sierra Foothills that showcase his respect and understanding of the region.

Greg Wiliams, Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship
Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship (SBTS) has expanded in range and scope in recent years, but their core vision set by Executive Director, Greg Williams, remains the same: restore, maintain, and build recreational trails that can be enjoyed by all users for today's users and future generations to come. SBTS focuses on trails in Tahoe and Plumas National Forests, but their commitment to involving nearby communities in their efforts along with educating users on the impact recreational trails have on local economies is one that can be appreciated across the region.

Joe Lane, Mountain Rambler Brewery
Mountain Rambler Brewery is not only a community hot spot where residents and visitors alike can come socialize, find out the latest in local news, and enjoy great beer and food, it's an education in local history, geology, and biology. The beers, made in-house, are named after local peaks, flora, and fauna - just one example of owner, Joe Lane's commitment to the Eastern Sierra community. It's become a base to start or end one's night, an integral part of Bishop, Joe's hometown, after only a year in operations, one that is committed not only to the community it serves but to the environment around it.

Sierra Business Council will be working with the winners to plan celebratory events in each of their respective communities
