South Lake Tahoe's Race the Lake of the Sky Attracts Top Stand Up Paddle Boarders

The 3rd Annual Race the Lake of the Sky hits the beach and waters off of Lake Tahoe June 28th and June 29th at Lakeview Commons/El Dorado Beach in South Lake Tahoe.

Started in 2012 by South Tahoe Stand Up Paddle, Race the Lake of the Sky is a premiere flat-water SUP race and was dubbed the top pick for the best stand up paddle event of the year in 2013 by pro SUP athlete Anthony Vela. The event offers a stunning location as the backdrop in drawing hundreds of participants, novice and elite alike. Various races include short course, long distance, team relay, grom races and the SUP Cross Sprint course. Following the award ceremony on Saturday Afternoon, there will be music and a happy hour for event participants.

6:00am – On site event registration opens
8:00am – Rider safety meeting followed by the National Anthem
8:30am – El Dorado 5 miler
11:00am – SUP Cross
2:30pm – Grom Race
3:15pm – SUP Cross Finals
4:00pm – Award Ceremony

SUNDAY June 29th, 2014
6:00am – On site event registration opens
8:00am – Rider safety meeting followed by the National Anthem
8:15am – Emerald Bay Distance Race 14.4 miles
12:30pm – SUP High Jump/Limbo Contest
1:00pm – Best “Sweet” Move Contest
1:30pm – Team Relay Race
3:00pm – Raffle and Award Ceremony
