SLTPD update on officer involved shooting

The investigation is continuing into the officer involved shooting of 22-year-old Kris Jackson in South Lake Tahoe.

As reported, the young man was fatally shot by a South Lake Tahoe Police Officer on Monday, June 15 at the Tahoe Hacienda Inn.

A joint investigation is being conducted by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department, El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office and the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.

Today, they released an update on that investigation.
Here is a time line of what transpired on Monday morning:

2:40:21 a.m. Call into dispatch received and the caller reports a female crying and screaming.
2:41:27 a.m. Two officers were dispatched.
2:47:28 a.m. Officers arrive on-scene.
2:49:39 a.m. The involved officer reports on the radio that someone is going out the back window.
2:49:57 a.m. The involved officer reports the shooting to dispatch.
2:50:13 a.m. An ambulance is requested.
2:56:46 a.m. The ambulance arrived on-scene.

All responding officers and involved parties have been interviewed by the investigative team and evidence gathered at the scene is being examined.

The officer involved said he perceived a deadly threat from Kris Jackson but, after the interviews and search of the crime scene, no firearm or other weapon was located. An autopsy on Jackson will be conducted on Wednesday, June 17 and some results are expected in the next few days.

As part of the process, the completed investigation will be forwarded to the El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office for review. This process takes time so a thorough job can be completed.
