Shakespeare for the younger set: Will's Kids, returns to South Lake Tahoe

Event Date:
August 4, 2017 - 11:00am

Summer is not all beach and playtime for Lake Tahoe area kids, its also time to hang out with Shakespeare. For the second consecutive year, Will's Kids will take place at Valhalla inside Tallac Historic Site on Friday, August 4 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Will’s Kids is a collaboration between Live Violence Free, Tahoe Youth and Family Services, Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe, the D.G. Manchetti Young Shakespeare Program, and Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival to bring art to the children of the community.

This is a free and family friendly event. Participants will be able to enjoy a variety of arts and watch a children’s version of this year’s Shakespeare on the Lake production of Love’s Labours Lost, put on by the Young Shakespeare Program. The event begins at 11:00 a.m. with food trucks available for lunch and snacks.

The Love’s Labours Lost play begins at noon on the Valhalla lawn. After the play, at 1:00 p.m., the art fair will begin, allowing children of all ages to join in. There will be face painting, live art, crafts, hula hooping, a silent art auction and more! Workshops by various organizations and groups will also be available throughout the day.

Thanks to a donation by the Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club, kids from the Boys & Girls Club will be able to attend by bus and event fees. Additional donations can be made at www.give.liveviolencefree.org/willskids17. All donations go directly back to the collaboration who bring this event to the community each year.

Will’s Kids is appropriate for all ages and free to attend.
