Kudos: Tahoe Green Dispensary hosts first Bread and Broth Adopt A Day

Bread & Broth (B&B) is always happy to have new sponsors supporting our Adopt A Day of Nourishment program. Sponsoring their first Monday Meal on June 26, Tahoe Green Dispensary was a welcome addition to our amazing list of sponsors who have helped serve over fifty thousand meals since the inception of the Adopt A Day (AAD) program in 2011. Although B&B began serving hot meals in 1989, the creation of the Adopt A Day program provided individuals, businesses, churches, and service organizations the opportunity to participate in serving meals to members in need in the community.

The owners of Tahoe Green Dispensary, David and Melanie Turner, were excited to sponsor their first Monday Meal dinner, and although David was unable to attend, Melanie and two of her team members, Ray Carreon and Kelsey Jones showed up at 3 p.m. ready to help with the dinner’s setup. They jumped right in, first helping with setting up the food giveaway tables and bagging the free fresh fruit and vegetables. When the doors opened at 4 p.m., they staffed the serving line dishing out meatloaf, mashed potatoes, steamed cheese broccoli, and a garden green salad.

“Collaborating with my friends and Bread & Broth to serve the Tahoe locals was an extremely positive experience,” shared Kelsey.

Working on the serving line provides the AAD crew the opportunity to interact with the dinner guests and share kind and welcoming words. Serving and receiving a hot, nutritious meal always puts a happy smile on everyone’s face.

“I am glad to help the community in the town that I love,” said Ray as he was taking a serving line break.

Bread & Broth is grateful to Tahoe Green Dispensary and its AAD crew members who support our goal of easing hunger in our community.
