South Lake Tahoe beats record high temperature Sunday, more heat on way

South Lake Tahoe hit 91 degrees on Sunday, breaking a 15 year old record. Surrounding areas also broke records including the Reno International Airport who reported a temperature of 103 Sunday, breaking a previous record of 102 set in 1972.

It is expected to reach 91 degrees in South Lake Tahoe again on Monday, breaking the record on this date of 88 which was recorded in 1933 according to accuweather.com.

The normal highs for this time of year are near 81.

Tuesday Night Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. Light northwest wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
