Top four candidates for Douglas County Manager job revealed

Douglas County is one step closer to having a new county manager now that the large field of candidates has been reduced to four. Former County Manager Steve Mokrohisky left in April to take a job in Oregon, and since then Douglas County has been searching for his replacement. They hired the recruitment firm of Peckham and McKenney to aid in their search.

The top four candidates are Mary Lou Brown, City Administrator for the City of Grand Island, NE; Curtis Calder, City Manager for Elko, NV; Timothy Hacker, Interim Director of Parks & Recreation for the City of Las Vegas, NV; and James Nichols, Former Asst. City Manager in Midland, TX.

Former Director of Finance for South Lake Tahoe, and current Assistant County Manager Christine Vuletich was in the final round of 7 candidates but didn't make it to the final four.

County residents were able to meet those vying for the job during a series of panel interviews held on August 4 and 5. They will again be a part of the process during a special meeting of the County Commissioner Board on August 18. It will be held at 9 a.m. in the Douglas County Commissioners meeting room of the Douglas County Administration Building (Historic Courthouse), 1616 Eighth Street, Minden, Nevada.

Final selection of the County Manager will be heard at the Board of County Commissioners’ regularly scheduled meeting to be held September 4.
