COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials report another nine positive cases of COVID-19 today. One of those is in the Lake Tahoe area, one in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, one in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, one in Placerville and five in El Dorado Hills. Of these, one is under the age of 18, six are aged 18-49, one aged 50-64 and one aged 65 or older.

Another 325 tests were administered. 316 negative test results were returned.

There are an assumed 11 more recoveries, bringing that total to 830.

No change to the hospitalization numbers with one hospitalized in the ICU. There are two suspected cases in the hospital. There have been two deaths to date of county residents.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 3.1 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 69. The Lake Tahoe region is High (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater) along with El Dorado Hills. Much of the balance of the county is Moderate (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99).

County-wide there have been 951 cases with 438 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting nineteen new cases and four additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 990, with 884 recoveries and fifteen deaths, 91 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• A male Carson City resident in his 60’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident under the age of 18 with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 60’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 30’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Douglas County resident under the age of 18 with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 30’s with no connection to a previously reported case.

There have been 47 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since yesterday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 22 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 72 (+1) in Kings Beach, 8 (+0) in Olympic Village, 17 (+0) in Truckee, 6 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 6.1 percent positive, and 14-day case rate is 68.9 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 4 percent, 14-day increase is 13.2 percent.
