Kudos: Heavenly Ski Patrol sponsors Bread & Broth Monday Meal

“Our Heavenly Ski Patrol members love giving back to our South Lake Tahoe community, and we cherish our annual work with Bread & Broth,” exclaimed Nate Stuhlbarg. Nate, and his fellow Ski Patrol members Chava Laub, Isabella (Bella) Stowell, and Julie Zanobini, joined the Bread & Broth volunteers to provide a hearty and healthy dinner for the folks who came to St. Theresa Grace Hall on Monday, August 28.

The Heavenly Ski Patrol “Adopt A Day of Nourishment” crew members arrived at 3 p.m., excited and ready to help. Their first assignment was to arrange the free meat, breads, pastries, pizzas, and various staple items donated by local businesses at the food giveaway tables and pack bags filled with fresh fruit and vegetables. The fruit and vegetables, along with dairy products (milk, eggs, and butter), are purchased by B&B through the organization’s “Green Goal” initiative to provide free healthy food to the dinner guests.

At 4 p.m. the Ski Patrol crew spent the next 90 minutes graciously greeting and serving the dinner guests a chicken and pasta casserole-themed meal. The AAD crew members always work the meal serving line and have a great time interacting with the dinner guests and serving them a wonderful meal. Taking a break from the serving line, Chava expressed her gratitude for her volunteer experience. “I am grateful to provide nourishment for community members in their time of need,” she said.

Bread & Broth appreciates the monetary donation and the great AAD crew representing the Heavenly Ski Patrol and wishes them another great season of snow and service to the ski community.

In addition to Bread & Broth’s Monday Meal, the B&B organization also provides hot meals every Friday at Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church from 4 to 5:00 p.m.

Friday’s Second Serving meal is a simple entrée served with a soup generously provided by various local restaurants. As with the Monday Meal, everyone in the community is invited to experience a free meal and community camaraderie.
