Service set for Robert James “Buzz” Bruzzese

Robert James “Buzz” Bruzzese passed away unexpectedly on November 9, 2022. He was born on March 21, 1953 in Queens, New York. Shortly before his first birthday, his family moved to St. Clair Shores, Michigan where he lived until he left to attend Western Michigan University. After graduating, he moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1978.

At the time he opened the Full Moon restaurant with two of his college friends. They closed the restaurant a short time after and he returned to Michigan where he rekindled his relationship with Fran. They moved back to Tahoe together in 1980 and were married in 1981. They continued to live in Tahoe and raised their children until they retired in 2017 when they moved to Minden.

Most people knew Buzz from the years that he worked at the Post Office at the “Y”. Buzz could be found on the softball fields, the basketball courts, the ice rink, and more recently the golf course. He was an avid fisherman and his love for the mountains and the outdoors completely rubbed off on his children and his granddaughter. His unique sense of humor and loving nature will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his wife Fran, daughter Crystal (Chris), son Brandon, and granddaughter Jo Anne.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Tahoe Grizzlies Youth Hockey Scholarship Fund. Donations can be made via their website www.tahoegrizzlies.com or mailed to: Tahoe Grizzlies, PO Box 14476, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96151.
