King Fire community meetings to be held in North Lake Tahoe, Squaw Valley and Foresthill

Event Date:
September 23, 2014 - 7:00pm

King Fire community meetings will be held in Squaw Valley this evening and at North Lake Tahoe and Foresthill Wednesday to update the public on the status of the fire.

The meetings will be informational sessions focused on giving the public up-to-date information and answering questions about the fire. They are not a sign that the King Fire poses an imminent threat to any of the three areas.

This evening’s community meeting will take place at 7 p.m. in Olympic Village Lodge, 1901 Chamonix Place, in Squaw Valley.

During the meeting, representatives from the California Interagency Incident Management Team 5 will give the public a briefing on the status of the fire and be available to answer questions. The team is managing firefighting efforts in the north zone of the King Fire.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office and Office of Emergency Services sent out an informational message about this evening’s meeting today via Placer Alert, the county’s new emergency notification system. The system already includes landline telephone numbers provided by telephone companies.

The Sheriff’s Office and OES are urging residents to go online to www.Placer-Alert.org so they can receive emergency alerts via mobile telephones, emails and text messages.

On Wednesday, community meetings will take place in:
Tahoe City: 7 p.m. at the North Tahoe High School, 2945 Polaris Road; and
Foresthill: 7 p.m. in the gymnasium at Foresthill High School, 23319 Foresthill Road.
