Domestic dispute leads to arrest after 5 pounds of pot found in stolen car

Two California residents were arrested Monday, September 24 outside the Gardnerville Walmart after the stolen vehicle they had been traveling in was found containing five pounds of marijuana.

Calaveras County resident Johnny Ray Miller, 28, has been booked into the Douglas County jail on a California parole violation warrant and 39-year-old Sherri Lynn Davis (aka Tracy Meeker) from San Jose was booked for a contempt of court warrant out of East Fork Justice Court. Both may be facing further charges once the investigation is complete. Their identification led to those hometowns but they may be found to be different.

At 3:40 a.m., a call went into the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) about a possible domestic dispute at the Carson Valley Inn. As deputies were dispatched, the caller said the man and woman involved left the scene in a silver Ford Escape.

DCSO patrol deputies then saw the Ford Escape turn down Buckeye Road and followed it. The vehicle accelerated and turned down Heybourne Road and then Stockyard Road, ramming into two closed gates located on Bently Nevada Properties. The vehicle, which was later located abandoned on Highway 395 near Airport Road, was reported stolen out of California and contained over five pounds of marijuana.

It was determined that the participants in the domestic dispute had rented a hotel room at the CVI. DCSO investigators obtained a search warrant for the hotel room and evidence was located in the room leading to the identity of the two suspects in this case.

At approximately 11:36 a.m., DCSO Dispatch received information that the suspects in this case were at the Walmart Store on Grant Avenue in Gardnerville. When the suspects exited the store, they were detained by DCSO personnel.
