Snow in LakeTahoe's forecast for Sunday and Monday

Time to trade in those shorts and sandals for a sweater and socks as temperatures drop and precipitation enters the area at the end of the weekend.

A quick moving weather front moving through the Lake Tahoe Basin on Sunday is expected to leave behind 1-2" of snow over the passes and less than 1/2" at lake level. Sunny skies and fall temperatures will return by Tuesday.

Sunday - A 40 percent chance of showers after 11am. Increasing clouds, with a high near 49. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.

Sunday Night - Rain and snow showers likely before 11pm, then a chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday - A 20 percent chance of snow showers before 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 47. West wind around 10 mph.
