Immerse yourself in an evening of newly discovered comedy one-acts on stage at the
Boathouse Theatre from October 3-5 at 7:30 p.m. Deanna and Paul, Cafe D’Automatique and Funeral for a Friend, all award-winning short plays will be performed each night.

Complimentary cookies, coffee, and tea will be served in the Grand Hall prior to the third play.

Over 90 one-acts were submitted for consideration in the 2019 Word Wave Play Competition. Theatrical Art professionals selected the top three one-acts to perform as full productions, and they are featured during three evenings in the historic Boathouse Theatre.

Dagney Kerr, “Deanna and Paul” (staged reading) - Judges said, "This play instantly spoke to us. It’s quirky and poetic, with human truths that can speak to anyone. A lovely piece that will tug at your heart-strings, make you laugh, and have you cheering in the end."

Dave Hanson's “Cafe D’Automatique” - To anyone that has ever had auto-correct text messages go out without intent, this is your play. A funny take on current faux-pas in the world of dating, this play will definitely tickle your funny bone and have you laughing out loud!

John Paul Porter's “Funeral for a Friend” - A play about friendship. About sharing our vulnerabilities. About growing older. About saying things you would never say to someone that wasn’t your best friend. Inappropriate, funny, caustic, and irreverent, Liddy & Eleanor maneuver through one of their “closest friend’s” funeral with hilarity.

Tickets are $18 to $28 and can be purchased HERE.

The Valhalla Boathouse Theatre is located on Valhalla Road at the Tallac Historic Site on State Highway 89 in South Lake Tahoe.
