LTUSD looking for volunteers in nutrition, physical education and sustainability/renewable energy

Lake Tahoe Unified School District is looking for volunteers to help them in their quest to help students with a healthy lifestyle as well as their efforts to be sustainable and use of renewable energy.
Community members with an interest or expertise in any of these areas are encouraged to join one of the following committees:
Wellness Committee – Nutrition, Wellness Committee – Physical Education and Activity, and Renewable Energy and Sustainability Committee
LTUSD wants to be a role model for this, and future generations and are committed to providing school environments that promote and protect children's social, psychological and physical health, well-being, and ability to learn, by supporting healthy eating and physical activity and by providing support services and educational programs to students and their families.
The Renewable Energy and Sustainability Committee Administrator is Billy Wessell, CBOO with Chairperson Steve Brennan, Director of Maintenance & Operations for LTUSD. They are looking for one parent representative from each school and four local with knowledge and experience specific to sustainable energy.
The Physical Education and Activity Committee Administrator will be Dr. James R. Tarwater with Chairperson Karin Holmes, Principal at Sierra House Elementary. Besides the local PE teachers, one parent representative from each school and three locals with knowledge and experience specific to physical education and fitness programs.
The Nutrition Committee Administrators are Dr. James R. Tarwater and Billy Wessell
with Chairpersons Shelley Giannotta and Susan Giles, Food Services Dept. They are looking for one parent volunteer from each school and four local with knowledge and experience specific to nutrition and diet.
Committees will be meeting 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on six dates to be announced at the LTUSD Education Center on Al Tahoe Blvd.
If you are interested in serving on a committee, please advise the school site principal or site secretary, or contact Shannon Chandler, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent at 530.541-2850 ext. 1025 by October 13.
