Good Morning Lake Tahoe Skiers & Riders…
Take your windproof – waterproof outwear and expect Rain & Snow later today… Winds are affect the operation of upper mountain lifts, so all Lifts will operate Wind & Weather permitting… Heavenly on WIND HOLD; Squaw’s Upper Mtn on WIND HOLD; Winter Storm Watch starting Wednesday – 12” to 36” of snow possible above 7000 feet. Have Fun & Be Safe!
Today’s Weather: Expect Partly Cloudy Skies in the morning, then Rain & Snow in the afternoon. Snow level 7500 ft. Snow accumulation up to 3”. Highs: 43F-48F (33F-38F@8000 ft.). Southwest winds 10-20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Ridge gusts up to 85 mph.
Tonight: Rain and snow in the evening, then chance of rain and snow after midnight. Snow level 8000 feet lowering to 7000 feet. Snow accumulation of 1 to 4 inches. Lows 28F to 33F. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Ridge gusts up to 80 mph.
WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY EVENING THROUGH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT…
* WHAT… Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations 6 to 12 inches, except 1 to 3 feet above 7000 feet possible. Winds could gust as high as 65 mph over the higher terrain of the Sierra.
* WHERE… Greater Lake Tahoe Area and Mono County.
* WHEN… From Wednesday evening through late Thursday night.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… Travel could be very difficult to impossible with long delays possible. Heavy wet snow could cause tree branches to break.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Now is the time to prepare an emergency kit for your home and car. If traveling consider alternate plans, remember to carry tire chains, extra food, water and clothing. Once the storm arrives, travel may be difficult or impossible for an extended period of time.
WHAT TO WEAR: Dress warm, in layers with your Gore-Tex Jacket or Shell. Take warm gloves, a hat or beanie, and wear a Helmet for Safety. Also wear good Goggles. Don’t forget to use Sunscreen and to Stay Hydrated at Altitude!
SURFACE CONDITIONS: Surface Conditions are Early Season Conditions with Machine Groomed mixture of natural snow and machine-made snow. Machine Groomed & Skier-Rider Packed Snow. Watch for marked & unmarked obstacles.
SAFETY MESSAGE: Stay on designated Opened Trails only. Keep an eye out for marked and unmarked obstacles. Slow Down and observe safety signs on trails with high concentration of skiers and riders… Know the Code! Always stay in control. Be able to avoid objects and people in your Path! Please stop to side of the run where it is safe and always check uphill for skiers and riders before restarting downhill.

*HEAVENLY MOUNTAIN RESORT: Is open (9-4) and reports a base of 35”. 4 Lifts are scheduled to operate (9-4)- ALL LIFTS ON WIND HOLD, including Mtn. access from the Heavenly Gondola with Tamarack Express, Bear Cave Carpet & Tubing Carpet on the upper mountain. 2 Trails are open (2MG).
