Former news anchor hired as City of South Lake Tahoe communications director

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A new communication manager is on board at the City of South Lake Tahoe.

Chris Fiore was hired on November 5 and is now on the job at City Hall. He’ll be the contact person for not only all media inquiries and City press releases, but also directing the city’s digital communications and social media.

There were 62 other people vying for the job, but the Emmy-nominated and Associated Press award-winning communications professional rose to the top of the strong pool of candidates.

Fiore spent the last decade in television news, most recently as the Evening Anchor at KNOE in Monroe, Louisiana. During his time in news, he covered the war in Afghanistan from the front lines, hurricanes bearing down on the Carolina and Louisiana coasts and made change on Capitol Hill. His passion though has always been with local government.

“I couldn’t be more excited to have the privilege of serving the people of Tahoe,” said Fiore. “I’m proud to have the chance to tell the stories of the public servants who work so hard to make this city as wonderful as it is.”

“Chris has spent the last decade on the forefront of trends in the communications world, finding himself involved in local government at every turn,” said Interim City Manager Dirk Brazil “He’ll be able to shine a spotlight on all the great things that are happening here in Tahoe.”

Fiore got his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In addition to work at television news stations across the Southeastern United States, Chris spent time working in the Public Information Office for the City of Savannah, GA.

Welcome aboard Chris!
