South Lake Tahoe pair off to prison after abusing their two young children

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Danielle McGlothin and Lance Logan are heading to state prison after being sentenced for abusing their two young children, ages one and three.

On October 19, 2017, staff at the 3 Peaks Resort in South Lake Tahoe discovered two small children without clothes on, roaming the parking lot unattended. Staff attempted to return the boys to their parents after the kids were almost hit by a car. The parents, McGlothin and Logan, appeared to the staff to be under the influence of drugs and police were called.

South Lake Tahoe Police Department responded to the hotel and located heroin in reach of the children. In addition, they determined that both parents were in fact under the influence of drugs. Police immediately notified El Dorado County Child Protective Services who determined through drug testing that both children had been recently exposed to drugs and the one-year-old's drug test indicated long-term ingestion of cocaine.

At the time, McGlothin and Logan were on probation for previous child abuse inflicted by them on the older son.

On November 19, 2018, McGlothin entered a plea agreement with the El Dorado County District Attorney's Office on one count of felony child abuse and received a sentence of two years in state prison

On the same date, Logan pled to two counts of felony child abuse, one for each child. At his contested sentencing hearing, Logan argued for probation. According to the DA's office, they adamantly opposed probation and argued instead for state prison. Judge Suzanne Kingsbury sentenced Logan to five years and four months in state prison.

Since his October 2017 arrest, Logan allegedly took part in a bi-state drug ring that was broken up after a nine month long joint investigation into the trafficking and sales of heroin and methamphetamine by the South Lake Tahoe Police Department and Douglas County Sheriff's Office Street Enforcement Team. Those charges have not been addressed in court at the time.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Kassie Cardullo as a part of the Special Victim's Unit. The case was investigated by the El Dorado County District Attorney's Office and the South Lake Tahoe Police department.

"Special thanks are warranted for the diligent efforts of CPS. We are happy to report that both boys are currently thriving in a loving home," said the DA's office in a social media post.
