In response to the recent increased number of COVID-19 cases in the South Lake Tahoe region, the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) Self Sufficiency office located at 3368 Sandy Way in South Lake Tahoe is temporarily reducing the hours that the lobby is open to the public. Beginning Monday, December 14, 2020, the lobby will be open to the public Monday - Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for persons needing to conduct business in person.
“We’re taking this step as a precaution and to help reduce potential exposure risk to the public and employees alike,” said Timalynn Jaynes, HHSA Program Manager. “In addition to the limited lobby hours, our services will continue to be available to the public by phone, online portals, our drop box and U.S. mail. Employees will continue to work their regular full time work schedules and will be available for public contact by telephone.”
The Self Sufficiency office administers the County’s CalFresh, Medi-Cal, CalWORKs, General Assistance and CMSP programs for eligible residents. According to Jaynes, the office has a drop box located to the right of the building entrance that is checked at a minimum three times throughout the business day to assure workflow is not disrupted. Applications are also available at the drop box. In addition, individuals can apply for, upload verification paperwork, and check on the status of their program benefits at any time online at www.c4yourself.com or www.getcalfresh.org.
“We expect the temporarily reduced lobby hours to remain in effect for a least the next several weeks, or until case numbers are consistently down,” added Jaynes. “Our goal is to ensure that everyone stays healthy and safe.”
