SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health official have announced another 30 positive cases of COVID-19 since yesterday. Of the new cases, ten are in the Lake Tahoe region, nine in El Dorado Hills, four in Greater Placerville, four in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, two in the North County and one in Diamond Springs, El Dorado. There was one aged under 18, 16 in the age group 18-49, eight aged 50-64 and 5 aged 65 or older.

Another 559 tests were administered. The county was notified of 529 negative results and 17 assumed recoveries. There are 173 assumed active cases.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - With a changing vacation home rental (VHR) landscape in the City of South Lake Tahoe, those wishing to rent their homes may be turning to "shared rentals."

There currently is no ordinance that covers shared rentals as the current VHR ordinance addresses the rental of an entire dwelling for a period of less than 30 consecutive calendar days, Shared rentals deal with renting less that the entire dwelling on a short-term basis.

Plea expected in deadly South Lake Tahoe tanker crash

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It has been 11 months since the deadly tanker crash on US50 and Elks Club Road claimed the life of a 36-year-old North Highlands man. The thick black smoke from the wreckage could be seen for miles as emergency response crews worked on extinguishing the blaze.

South Lake Tahoe man sentenced to 26 years in prison for multiple counts of child molestation

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A South Lake Tahoe man who was found guilty on four counts of felony child molestation has been sentenced to 26 years in state prison.

A jury found John Robert Garcia, 45, guilty back in December 2019 and he was scheduled to be sentenced in April. Due to social distancing requirements and COVID-19, that was held off until June 26. Judge Dylan Sullivan conducted the sentencing utilizing remote video conferencing.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials released new figures, showing 15 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county since yesterday. Seven of those are in the Lake Tahoe Region, three in El Dorado Hills, three in Placerville, and two in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue. Four are under the age of 18, nine aged 18-49, one aged 50-64 and one 65+.

There have been no changes in hospitalizations (3) but there are no longer COVID-19 patients in the ICU. There are currently no suspected cases in the hospital.

The total count only changed by two due to one person's location being misidentified and another was a duplicate entry, according to county officials.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials announced six new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, five in the Lake Tahoe region, and one in the Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue area. Of the new numbers, two are male, four female, four in the 18-48 age group and two in the 50-64 age group.

No new recoveries have been reported, with that number remaining at 122. At this time there are 62 active cases of COVID-19. One positive person remains hospitalized in the ICU with one suspected case in the ICU.

Fireworks banned in all Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - If you were planning on setting off fireworks around Lake Tahoe this 4th of July, you can forget about it. They are illegal around the lake and in neighboring counties. A mild winter and a large amount of forest fuels put the area at a high risk of fire this summer, and fireworks could be devastating.

Without the official fireworks shows at the north and south ends of the lake, many fear people will resort to the fireworks bought at roadside stands and Indian reservations. While those are legal in the areas they are sold, they are not legal at Lake Tahoe.

El Dorado County Human Rights Commission on the supervisor's agenda

PLACERVILLE, Calif. - The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors will be addressing the County's Human Rights Commission during their meeting on Tuesday.

Supervisor Lori Parlin is recommending the Board consider providing direction to the Human Rights Commission (HRC) to require that the Commission update its bylaws with language to create a formal process for issues brought before them before putting any issues on their agenda.

Two upcoming blood drives to offer free COVID-19 antibody testing

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Due to the coronavirus pandemic, blood drives have been nonexistent but they are returning to the South Shore in the coming weeks. As a bonus, all of those donations will receive a free COVID-19 antibody screening test.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County public health officials are reporting another four confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county, all from the Lake Tahoe region.

All of the new cases are in the age group of 18-49 and are three males and one female. This brings the current number of confirmed cases to 125. With one new recovery, the active number of cases is 25.

There are no current hospitalizations but two suspected cases of COVID-19 are in the hospital.

Douglas County Recreation opens up their Lake Tahoe Youth Day Camp

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - In response to Governor Sisolak’s announcement of the State entering Phase 2 of COVID-19 recovery, Douglas County Community Services has announced the reopening of child care programming, Lake Day Camp, at Kahle Community Center starting on Tuesday June 23, 2020.

Procedures will be implemented at the Kahle Community Center as outlined below based on Directive 21 – Roadmap to Recovery for Nevada for Phase 2.

Of the new cases, two are male, one is female and all are under the age of 17.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There was one new confirmed case of COVID-19 in El Dorado County Tuesday, a male in the 18-49 age group. This brings the total of cases to 118.

There have been an additional four recovered (99), leaving 19 active cases. There are currently no patients in the hospital with confirmed COVID-19 but there are two suspected positive patients in the ICU.

There were an additional 166 tests administered in the county Tuesday.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There have been four new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in El Dorado County since Friday, two in the Lake Tahoe region and two in El Dorado Hills. Of the new cases, one is male, three are female, three are aged 18-49 and one is in the 50-64 age group.

Four more recoveries were announced by health officials, bringing the total to 95. There remain 22 active cases. There are no hospitalizations at Barton or Marshall at this time but there are four patients in the ICU with suspected cases according to Public Tableau.

425 new tests were administered in the County.
