TODAY’S WEATHER (NWS GREATER LAKE TAHOE AREA): Partly Cloudy. Highs 39 to 49. (29-39F on the slopes) Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 30 mph in the morning. Ridge gusts up to 75 mph.

It's shaping up to be a SUNDAY FUNDAY for early season turns. Cold temps are allowing resorts to continue making snow and open more lifts and terrain! Great surface conditions with machine groomed and skier-rider packed powder. Lifts will operate wind and weather permitting.

The popular “Plates for Powder” program and offers skiers and boarders two free lift tickets at one of ten resorts in Lake Tahoe if they purchase the new Lake Tahoe license plate in either California or Nevada.
“The mountains are covered in white from this weekend’s storm signaling that ski season is almost here,” said Amy Berry, CEO of the Tahoe Fund. “Get ready to ski at one of the 10 resorts in Tahoe who generously support this great program by purchasing your new California or Nevada Tahoe plate today.”

With predictions for one of the biggest winters in over a decade, now is the time to buy a Lake Tahoe license plate so you can ski for free in Tahoe. The popular “Plates for Powder” program is back, and once again offers individuals who purchase a new Lake Tahoe license plate in either California or Nevada two free lift tickets to one of 12 Tahoe resorts participating in the program.
Lake Tahoe receives much needed rain and snow; more expected

Lake Tahoe has received much needed rain and snow from a wet Pacific storm on both Friday and Saturday, while more is expected late Sunday afternoon.
Heavenly Mountain Resort received 4-8” of new snow overnight Friday and opened two additional trails on Saturday. Sierra at Tahoe has received 10" of new snow while Kirkwood reports 9" of fresh snow. The big winner of this storm, so far, is Mt. Rose Ski Resort who are reporting two feet of new snow.
A winter weather advisory is in effect in Lake Tahoe from 4 p.m. Sunday through 4 p.m. Monday.
Avalanche search training continues this week at Mt. Rose Summit Highway

Training objectives and stations will cover transceiver and RECCO search, proper probe line set up and execution, snow pit/snow pack information and a search dog demonstration.

Mt Rose Ski Tahoe has submitted plans to the U.S. Forest Service and Washoe County for major improvements to the resort. Included in the proposal are plans for new terrain, additional lifts, snowmaking improvements, as well as facility enhancements.
