Oregon Ducks win back-to-back Pac-8 Hockey Championships in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It was a full weekend of action on the ice in South Lake Tahoe as the Ice Arena was home to the Pac-8 Men's Hockey Championship. The final game put the #1 and #2 seeds from the north, the University of Oregon and Boise State, together to fight it out for the trophy.

For the second consecutive year, and for the fifth time, the Oregon Ducks will be taking home the championship title back to Eugene. They blanked the Boise State Broncos 3-0.

South Lake Tahoe gymnasts win at first two meets of 2020

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — The Inversion Gym Girls Gymnastics Team entered the 2020 season in top form with back-to-back wins at their first two meets. The girls were competing in the Excel Division, sanctioned by USA Gymnastics, at the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum levels. The competitions are all comprised of the four women’s gymnastics events; Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise, with awards also for the best All-Around performances. New agreement in the works for 56-acre South Lake Tahoe downtown project

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The long-discussed 56-acre parcel in the middle of South Lake Tahoe is finally seeing movement again, and both the South Lake Tahoe City Council and El Dorado County Board of Supervisors (BOS) supporting further conversation. A formal agreement between the two is expected later in 2020 with another one-two years of public meetings, consultant review, and planning before plans are implemented. The California Tahoe Conservancy is funding the cost of the consultant, just as they did 30 years ago.

South Shore casinos hit jackpot in October

Casinos on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe posted big gains in October according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board's monthly recap of the state's casino revenue. Nevada’s non-restricted gaming licensees reported a total “gaming win” of $952,404,403 for the month.

The $19,503,080 South Shore "gaming win" is 14.32 percent above the same month in 2018. As a state, the revenue of $1,021,909,865 is down 3.85 percent. They have posted gains over 2018 in three of the last four months.

The "gaming win" represents the computed income of casinos before business expenses and taxes.

LTCC women's soccer team win playoff game; Host round two Tuesday in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It's on to the second round of playoffs for the Lake Tahoe Community College women's soccer team. They took care of 18th seed West Valley College at the South Lake Tahoe campus on Saturday, winning the game 4-0.

The top-seeded Coyotes will host the City College of San Francisco Rams (No. 8 seed) on Tuesday, November 26.

Game time is 12:00 p.m.

LTCC women's soccer team on top of national coaches poll for 4th straight week

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Community College's Women's Soccer team is on top of the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 NJCAA poll for Division III for the fourth consecutive week. On September 25 they rose to the top spot of the list and haven't left since then.

Fresno City College is currently in the second spot, a team they tied during a September 20 match-up, 1-1. The team the women lost too in last year's state final, Santiago Canyon College, dropped to the twelfth-ranked team.

Women's Soccer Team at LTCC ranked #1 in national coach's poll

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - In 2018 the Lake Tahoe Community College's Women's Soccer team made an impression on coaches around the country and they became the #2 ranked Division III team during the season. Their epic season took them to the state finals.

Fast forward to this year and the 2019 Lady Coyotes made it to the number one on the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 NJCAA poll for Division III this week. Fresno City College is currently in the second spot, a team they tied during a September 20 match-up, 1-1.

Fresh off their Nevada State Championship win in Reno two weeks ago, the South Tahoe 13 All-Stars are now in Helper, Utah for the Pacific Southwest Regional Tournament.

On Monday, July 22 they played the Utah Beavers. South Tahoe was down by 4 - 0 in the 5th inning but demonstrated true grit and rallied back to win in the bottom of the 7th inning 5 - 4. South Tahoe now advances to play Hawaii on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. = Former Dallas Cowboy's quarterback Tony Romo is one round of golf away from being the back-to-back champion at the 30th annual American Century Golf Championship.

He shot a 70 on each of the first two days of the tournament at Edgewood Tahoe, but the tournament uses Modified Stableford scoring, given Romo at 51.

Fifteen celebrities competing in the 30th annual American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe this week headed over to the 17th hole after the first round of play Friday to participate in the Korbel Closest-to-the-Pin Challenge.

If any of them got a hole-in-one, the Tahoe Prosperity Center (TPC) would split the $250,000 prize money with the celebrity. While nobody got that elusive ace, there were a lot of close shots. Missing the cup by just 21.5", former MLB pitcher Derek Lowe won $25,000 to split with TPC.

Amgen Stage 3: France's Cavagna finishes almost 1.5 hours of next rider

For the second day in a row, a Deceuninck – Quick-Step cyclist claimed his first WorldTour stage win at the Amgen Tour of California, with 23-year-old French rider Rémi Cavagna spending hours on a solo ride several minutes ahead of the peloton.

About an hour into the race day, a breakaway including the USA Cycling National Team’s reigning U.S. U23 National Champion Alex Hoehn (Lenexa, Kansas) and Cavagna (FRA) built their lead to over 10 minutes and ended up spending 100 miles out front of the peloton.
