The South Lake Tahoe Winter of 51/52 and Other Great Stories

Dubbed the "All Star Panel," a group of long time local residents shared stories of a South Lake Tahoe most of us never experienced. The seven panelists have lived in Lake Tahoe a combined 600 plus years and shared some great stories with the overflowing crowd at Camp Richardson Lodge on Tuesday evening. In fact, the number of long time locals in the audience was very evident since their combined years of living in Lake Tahoe was over 1880!

November Skibum

The State of the City address by the Mayor was upbeat, informative and a real pat myself on the back (if any of them actually could) and see all the positive things we have done to improve the city while sugarcoating on how we actually got to a balanced budget.

Out and About in South Lake Tahoe

A beautiful day to be out and about in South Lake Tahoe! We stopped by Meeks to check out their Kids Day and found our friends from Kiwanis with their free Kids ID booth, Jen from KTHO broadcasting live and Ethan and Eli Cox enjoying the crafts while dad James was grabbing their hot dogs.

We also stopped by the newly remodeled Starbucks at the Y and checked out the beautiful new place. So much more space now! Same friendly crew ready to serve.

Out and About in South Lake Tahoe

We found lots of things to enjoy while out and about in South Lake Tahoe today!

The Pumpkin and Pony Festival at Forest Suites had several things for everyone to enjoy. There were local business booths, a pumpkin patch, pony and tractor rides, a climbing wall and bouncy house, live music and two food booths and historical entertainment. You can still catch this on Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.

The South Tahoe Music Department had a rummage sale in the parking lot of the Emerald Bay Center for Women's Health to raise money for the music programs.

Oktoberfest is Alive and Well in South Lake Tahoe

Oktoberfest at Camp Richardson is living up to expectations with their food, drink, crafts, games and kid's activities. If the cars parked along Highway 89 is any indication there were several hundred people, if not into the thousands, enjoying the festivities.

The annual event runs until Sunday at 5 pm so there is still time to make it out. The Trolley will be running from the Y and dropping off passengers right in front of Camp Richardson. Biking and walking are also very viable options if one prefers not to drive.

With the Factory Stores at the Y signing a multi-year lease agreement with Big 5 Sporting Goods, the South Lake Tahoe center may be able to find solid financial ground. “I’m still in negotiations with the bank and trying to get a loan modification. While tragic in nature as to what happened at the Globe event ( I can actually relate to what the parents are going through having lost one of my own) the lawsuits will likely begin. Doesn’t matter who, if anyone, is at fault you can bet there'll probably be one.
